What could be cozier than a little gingerbread house during the Christmas season?
This tiny crocheted house is such a fun little project to make and decorate. Add a door, some windows, a little wreath, or anything else you can think of and create your very own gingerbread house.
Place it on a shelf, add it to your Christmas decorations or hang it in your tree for a handmade touch.

Any yarn will work. I used Scheepjes Colour Crafter (DK weight)
Crochet hook to match your yarn. I used a E/4 hook (3.5mm)
Tapestry needle
Thin batting (fusible fleece or any lightweight padding)
Stitches used (US terms)
Chain
Slip stitch
Single crochet
Front

Row 7
· Single crochet 10.
· Fasten off.
Row 8
From here, you’ll start the roof.
· Chain 3.

· Single crochet 16.
· Turn without chaining.

Repeat
Continue decreasing by repeating rows 10 and 11:
Row 12 = 12 sts Row 18 = 6 sts
Row 13 = 12 sts Row 19 = 6 sts
Row 14 = 10 sts Row 20 = 4 sts
Row 15 = 10 sts Row 21 = 4 sts
Row 16 = 8 sts Row 22 = 2 sts
Row 17 = 8 sts Row 23 = 2 sts
Row 24: Single crochet the last 2 stitches together.
Border
Hold your work with the right side facing you. Your starting tail should now hang on the left side. Work a round of slip stitches along the edges, placing 1 slip stitch at the end of each row. In each corner, make two slip stitches in the same spot.
Back
Crochet a second identical piece for the back.
Weave in all ends.
Embroidery
This is where you can let your creativity shine. Add a little door, windows or any decorations you like. I don’t weave in my embroidery ends neatly. I simply tie the tails together on the back.
Assembly
· Cut a piece of batting slightly smaller than your crocheted house shape.
· Place the batting between the two crochet pieces. The wrong sides should be facing inwards.
· Hold the house with the right side facing you.
· Start on the left side of the house portion using brown yarn. Follow the direction of the blue arrows in the photo.
· Insert your hook through the back loop of the front piece and the front loop of the back piece. Slip stitch the pieces together.
· Switch to white yarn. Insert your hook through the same loops at the point marked with the red dot. Chain 1 to secure your yarn, then single crochet in the same stitch.
· In the next stitch, work: single crochet, chain 1, single crochet. Repeat this all the way around the roof.
Weave in all ends. All done!
